Message from the Faculty Director

There has never been a better time to pursue a career in human resources management, and I can’t imagine a more dynamic setting to sharpen your HR knowledge and skills than Georgetown University, situated in the heart of Washington D.C.

Our obligation to you, if you choose to do your graduate work with us, is this: To ensure that we are helping you develop the knowledge and skills that you will need to succeed as an HR practitioner. First, we will give you a solid foundation in the broad functional areas of the HR profession. You’ll deepen your knowledge and skills in the range of HR asset management—human resource planning, staffing, development, engagement, and motivation of human resources. And, in the tradition of Georgetown University, we’ll equip you with the perspective and background in ethics and ethical decision-making so you can serve as a beacon of sound decision-making and social justice within your organization. Once we have built that foundation, you will then choose one of our exciting focus areas, allowing you to deepen your knowledge and skills as an HR generalist, or pursue a more specialized role in international HRM, strategic HRM, diversity and inclusion, or human resource development/organization development.
